Hudson Companies is pleased to have been chosen as the general contractor for Austintown Local School District’s new K-2 and 3-5 Buildings. The $50 million total is being funded by the school district and the Ohio School Facilities Commission. Hudson Companies $17 million GC contract is underway and on pace to be completed for Austintown’s students in the fall of 2013.
The 2 new schools will replace multiple 40-60 year old buildings making it possible to consolidate operating costs, improve student/teacher ratios, provide better indoor air quality and use more energy efficient construction materials. This green building project is targeting LEED Silver status through the USGBC upon its completion.
The plans call for the buildings to be set in a campus-styled learning environment. The 120,108 square-foot K-2 Primary School includes 67 multipurpose classrooms and the new 3-5 Intermediate School, 122,883 square feet, includes 73 multipurpose classrooms. The existing Watson Elementary and Frank Ohl Intermediate Schools will be demolished once the new buildings are operational. Playgrounds and employee parking lots will take their place.
Hudson Companies professional and talented team is excited to be part of this project that includes the highly regarded firms of Olsavsky Jaminet Architects, Inc., Youngstown, OH and the Canton, OH based construction manager, Hammond Construction. We look forward to completing this, our 6th Ohio Schools Project, and to not only meeting the Austintown School Districts’ expectations, but exceeding them!
